Hurricane Preparedness
As summer approaches it is time to consider that Hurricane Season is upon us here in Orange County. The Hurricane Season for the Atlantic Ocean is June 1st through November 30th.
Although infrequent, hurricanes do impact the Hudson Valley causing substantial wind damage and flooding. County Executive Edward A. Diana recommends that you take a few minutes and discuss with your family the potential impact of a hurricane and what you can do to prepare.
The time to prepare for emergencies is before they happen. Below are some helpful links compiled by the Orange County Division of Emergency Management to assist you in preparing for a hurricane: New York State Emergency Management Office
New York State Department of Health
National Hurricane Center
Federal Emergency Management Agency
National Flood Insurance Program
Red Cross
